Welcome to the SHRM Government Affairs webpage. Here you will find information about the HR public policy issues SHRM is monitoring, as well as the positions the Society is advocating both in Washington and in state capitals across the country.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “America is not governed by the majority, but by the majority of those who participate.”
Jefferson's belief about the impact political advocacy had on Government 200+ years ago still rings very true today. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the public policy issues SHRM is advocating on and consider exercising your HR Voice by actively participating in the political process of government.
To find out how you can become an HR Advocate, click on the "Get Involved" tab in the column to the left. To get a flavor of some of the issues we're advocating on in Washington or state capitols, click on the "Issues" tab.
