SHRM is joining the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) to sponsor the “2009 Keeping the World Working During the H1N1 Pandemic: Protecting Employee Health, Critical Operations, and Customer Relations Summit” on September 22 - 23, 2009 in Minneapolis, MN.
SHRM is working with CDC and CIDRAP on this important event to raise awareness and to ensure that HR’s perspective is well represented. SHRM understands the key role that HR will play throughout this flu season and encourages HR professionals to become educated about the H1N1 virus, the implications for infection, and the preparations required to keep vital business operations functioning.
This conference will cover a broad range of issues related to H1N1, but will also contain specific tracks on Health Care Systems and Human Resources. To review the agenda of this two-day conference, please visit the CIDRAP website HERE.
According to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, the H1N1 “swine” flu virus could infect half the U.S. population this fall and winter, causing as many as 1.8 million people to be hospitalized and more than 90,000 deaths – more than double the number in an average flu season.
