General Electric has 120,000 employees in the United States. It offered hourly and nonexempt employees three plan choices for 2011:
- GE Health Care Preferred, with an $800 deductible.
- GE Medical Benefits, with a $1,600 deductible.
- An alternative health maintenance organization plan, with a $2,000 deductible.
Options two and three come with a company-funded health reimbursement account: $600 for employee-only coverage, $900 to cover two people, and $1,200 to cover three or more.
The following table shows employees’ annual premium responsibility, based on annual compensation and coverage level.
