Background Checking: The Implications of Credit Background Checks on the Decision to Hire SHRM Poll

Do employers use credit checks to screen out mass numbers of candidates in the early phases of the application process? According to the results of this poll, organizations initiate credit background checks only after a contingent offer (57%) or after the job interview (30%). The poll provides a fresh look on the impact of credit background checks on the decision to hire. It looks at factors that have the most impact on hiring decisions, the reasons that organizations conduct credit background checks, the types of job candidates most likely to be subject to credit checks and more.
