Shirley Davis Sheppard, Ph.D., vice president of Diversity & Inclusion at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), will bring a U.S. perspective to an international HR conference being sponsored by The Higher Colleges of Technology, Al Ain Colleges, on May 1, 2013.
Davis will be a keynote speaker at the global HR gathering, titled “The Global Perspective: Managing the Cross-Cultural Workforce,” held at the Al Ain Women’s College campus in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to The Higher Colleges, more than 400 human resource professionals, CEOs, senior managers, service providers and other HR stakeholders from across the UAE will attend. The free event is the first HR conference in the region, the goal of which is to encourage local businesses and entrepreneurs to learn about international human resource management.
Davis has more than 15 years of experience in human resources, organizational and leadership development, and diversity management.
In 2008 she was named a front-runner in diversity by Profiles in Diversity Journal and in 2011 was named one of the Top 100 Corporate Executives in America by Uptown Professional and a “woman worth watching” by Profiles in Diversity Journal.
Other keynote speakers include:
*Saad Ebrahim Abbas, director of Human Capital Development at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
* Elisabeth Kelan, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Management, King’s College London.
In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference will include 10 workshops specific to helping improve human resource and business management.
