HR professionals to visit capitol to talk about legislation impacting workplace; SHRM to release new research on skills gap in California
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 19, 2013 — The California State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (CalSHRM) hosts its annual Legislative Conference in April, offering up-to-date information on employment law and the legislative issues facing employers. Press Briefing: During a 1 p.m. Pacific time Thursday, April 18, press briefing, SHRM researchers will discuss new data on the skills shortage facing California employers. Conference details: The California State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (CalSHRM) brings together experts in employment law and state and federal legislation for its annual California State Legislative Conference. CalSHRM Government Affairs Director Michael Kalt (partner, Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP) will update HR professionals about pending California legislation, and Paul Fearer, board member of the California Health Benefits Exchange, will talk about health care offerings for Californians.
New research on the skills shortage facing employers in the state will be examined during a presentation by Mark Schmit, executive director of the SHRM Foundation, and Alexander Alonso, SHRM’s vice president of research.
