Details: More than 15,000 human resource and business leaders will attend the annual event hosted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
The conference features more than 200 concurrent sessions and workshops, including a Practitioner Exchange -- presentations that feature HR executives speaking about innovation and best workplace practices. HR experts from the Chicago Cubs, Marriott, Dollar General, Volkswagen, Groupon and NPR will share how HR programs have influenced their workplace.
On Sunday, June 16, SHRM affiliate the American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and SHRM Government Affairs will present an “Immigration Update” from 12:30 to 2 p.m. They will provide up-to-date information on verification, green-card provisions and elements of the immigration reform bill that would impact employment-based visas. Mike Aitken of SHRM and Lynn Shotwell, executive director of ACIP, will follow up with an appearance Tuesday, April 18, in the pressroom to answer questions about immigration reform and E-verify and give an update on Congressional action on the issue that took place during the week.
On Monday, June 17, winners of the AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 award, co-sponsored by SHRM, will be announced.
- Release of SHRM’s 2013 Employee Benefits Survey (examining more than 200 benefits offered by U.S. employers): 4:30 p.m. Central time, Sunday, June 16, with SHRM’s Vice President for Research Alex Alonso. He also will talk about a new poll on health-care reform.
- Immigration reform and its potential impact on employers: 2:30 p.m. Central time, Monday, April 17, with Mike Aitken of SHRM and Lynn Shotwell, executive director, and Austin Fragomen, board chair of ACIP.
- AARP’s Best Employers for Workers Over 50 award: 10 a.m. Central Time, Tuesday, June 18, with AARP representatives Jean Setzfand, vice president of financial security, and Deborah Banda, senior advisor, financial security team, workforce issues; a representative of SHRM; and several winners of the award.
