SHRM and HRPS Join Forces to Serve the HR Profession

Strategic Affiliation Creates Greater Unity and Powerful Voice for the HR Profession

WASHINGTON, July 10, 2013 – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and HR People & Strategy (HRPS) have formed a new strategic affiliation to better meet the needs of HR professionals at every stage of their career.

“SHRM’s global community of over 260,000 HR professionals and resources combined with HRPS’s exclusive community of HR executives will bring greater unity within the HR profession,” said SHRM President and CEO Henry G. (Hank) Jackson. “As a result, together we will be better positioned to impact the practice of human resource management for business results globally, as well as deliver high-quality programming and services to all HR professionals no matter where they are in their career.”

“Today marks a major milestone for HRPS,” said Kevin Rubens, HRPS board chair. “This new affiliation with SHRM will provide HRPS with access to the professionals, resources and platform we need to advance our mission and create a stronger HR community. Together with SHRM, we can better influence the development and impact of human resources as a profession.”

Specifically, the SHRM-HRPS affiliation will:

• Provide dual membership opportunities for national HRPS and SHRM members;

• Create a stronger, higher-impact and unified voice on human capital issues both domestically and globally;

• Share research to develop and deliver stronger programs to serve the entire HR community while advancing the profession; and

• Provide information and resources – from award-winning publications to webinars and educational programs – to help HR professionals keep up with future trends as well as influence regulations and compliance guidelines.

“Part of SHRM’s long-term strategic growth plan is to be a resource for all segments of HR professionals. The new affiliation with HRPS allows SHRM to expand its community of senior-level HR professionals,” said SHRM Board Chair Bette J. Francis, SPHR.
