SHRM MAC Member Appears Before the House Education and the Workforce Committee
On March 5, SHRM’s North Central Membership Advisory Council (MAC) representative Steve Browne, SPHR, testified on behalf of the Society before the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce on SHRM’s concerns with the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) February 5 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking governing representation elections. In addition to serving on the MAC and as a member of the SHRM Advocacy Team (A-Team), Browne is executive director of HR at LaRosa’s Inc., a family-owned regional pizzeria restaurant chain headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. [ More ]

House Ways and Means Chairman Unveils Tax Code Overhaul
Last week, after more than two years in the making, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) released his long-awaited plan for reforming the U.S. Tax Code when he introduced a “discussion draft” of the Tax Reform Act of 2014. Camp’s proposal focuses on both personal and corporate tax reform and would have broad implications for employers and employees. [ More ]
