As reported in the last edition of the HR Issues Update, 351 unique worksites were named winners of the 2012 Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility - now it is time to recognize these organizations and their innovative workplace flexibility practices!

In the coming days, When Work Works community partners across the country will be hosting recognition events for the 2012 Sloan Award recipients. These include:

Outreach Progress to Date

With just three months left in 2012, SHRM and the Families and Work Institute (FWI) are set to meet the 2012 goal of introducing the When Work Works initiative to 15 states in 2012!  Over 50 workflex educational programs have been delivered to SHRM affiliates to date, reaching over 2,000 human resource professionals. And over the course of 2012, six new SHRM Chapters or State Councils have committed to serve as community partners to this important workplace flexibility initiative.

Looking Ahead

It’s not too early to start thinking about bringing workplace flexibility programming to your Chapter or State in 2013, especially if you are a 2013 target state. Targets states for 2012 include:  Nebraska, Indiana, South Dakota, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, North Carolina, Alabama, Nevada, Louisiana, Colorado, Kansas, Hawaii, Montana and Washington, where the Washington State SHRM Council has already arranged for multiple programs across western Washington in January and the eastern half of the state in February.
