Member News: Michelle Spreitzer and Kairy Marquez

Michelle D. Spreitzer, assistant general counsel since 2000, will become vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA LLC effective June 1, 2012.

In her new position, Spreitzer will be responsible for all legal activities in the Americas Region for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. She also joins the core executive management team, called the Operations Committee.

Spreitzer joined the company in 1996 as a staff attorney after working at a Detroit law firm and a national bank, where she focused on financial services. She was awarded a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Wayne State University in 1984. She returned to Wayne State to earn a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in 1991. In her most recent position, she was responsible for consumer regulatory affairs and employment law.

Kairy Marquez has been appointed benefits administrator of Alcott HR Group, one of the nation’s leading professional employer organizations (PEOs). Her responsibilities will encompass the administration of benefit plans, enrollments, terminations, client and employee questions, claim issues, open enrollment, new plan administration, new hire orientations and leave management.

Before joining Alcott, Marquez served as a benefits administrator for Perfumania Holdings in Bellport, N.Y.  In this role, her responsibilities included the administration and management of employee leave, application of online insurance systems to process new hires and terminations, maintaining and running reports to track benefits status, benefits compliance, preparation of COBRA notices, management of benefit department payable invoices and work-related injury claims. She served as the primary backup to the company’s benefits manager and coordinated company events such as health seminars, blood drives, flu programs and fundraising events.

Marquez was an executive assistant with Hales & Co., New York, N.Y.; leadership coordinator with the El Puente Beacon Program, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and receptions/administrative assistant at Adam Personnel, New York, N.Y.

Marquez holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Stony Brook University and a bachelor’s degree in Human Services & Public Administration from Metropolitan College of New York.
