The Lone Star State Recognizes
HUMAN RESOURCES AWARENESS Month

October 2011 was declared Human Resources Awareness Month by Texas Governor Rick Perry. The annual awareness campaign is held to highlight the strategic role human resource professionals play in today’s workforce as well as their partnership with both employees and employers.

Texas has more than 104,000 human resource professionals, and more than 6,000 SHRM members in its 36 SHRM affiliated chapters.  Governor Perry’s proclamation pays tribute to the significant contributions HR makes toward continued economic and business success in the State.

Each year, the proclamation is distributed throughout the State to bring awareness to the HR profession and professionals:

·         Chapters are encouraged to post the proclamation on their websites and to get the word out in the communities they serve.

·         The proclamation is read at the annual SHRM-Texas State Conference.

·         News releases are built around the proclamation and sent to business journals, news papers, and chambers of commerce throughout Texas.

Governor Perry’s proclamation reads as follows:

STATE OF TEXAS
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR

Across this great state, human resource professionals play a vital role in maximizing any employer's greatest asset — its workforce.

Through the wide range of vital services they provide - from recruiting new talent, to compliance with labor laws, to educating Texans about health and safety, to providing ethics training and more - human resource professionals are committed in their partnership with both workers and employers.

An annual awareness campaign is held during the month of October to highlight the strategic role human resource professionals play in today's workforce.

At this time, I encourage all Texans to recognize the invaluable contributions human resource professionals make in fostering business excellence and promoting prosperity in the Lone Star State. They have established a record of achievement, highlighting the best of Texas.

Therefore, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim October 2011 to be

Human Resources Awareness Month

in Texas, and urge the appropriate recognition whereof.  In official recognition whereof,

I hereby affix my signature this the 25th day of September, 2011.

Rick Perry
Governor of Texas
