TERRENCE HOWARD - New Speaker!
OPENING GENERAL SESSION
Monday, October 27 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Academy Award-nominated actor Terrence Howard exploded onto the Hollywood scene in 2005 after delivering powerful performances in a number of film and TV productions. Howard has garnered multiple nominations including Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, as well as awards for Breakthrough Actor by the National Board of Review, Movieline and the Gotham Awards. Terrence's love for acting came naturally, through summers spent with his grandmother, New York stage actress Minnie Gentry. He later began his acting career on The Cosby Show after being discovered on a New York City street by a casting director. Terrence most recently starred in The Brave One with Jodie Foster, The Hunting Party with Richard Gere, August Rush with Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Iron Man opposite Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges. |

FRANS JOHANSSON
GENERAL SESSION
Tuesday, October 28 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Frans Johansson is an author, speaker, entrepreneur and managing director of Medici Capital Management. His recent best-selling book, The Medici Effect, has sparked "The Medici Game," a way for corporations to drive a conversation about innovation, a range of workshops and even a hedge fund. The Medici Effect refers to the proliferation of new ideas - referring to the remarkable burst of creativity enabled by the Medici banking family in Renaissance Italy.
In his book, Johansson reveals how we can find intersections in our own lives and turn the ideas we find there into groundbreaking innovations. He explains that three driving forces - the movement of people, the convergence of scientific disciplines, and the leap in computational power - are increasing the number and types of intersections we can access. |

BILL STRICKLAND
CLOSING GENERAL SESSION
Wednesday, October 29 10:45 a.m. - Noon
Bill Strickland's simple message - give people the tools they need, treat them with respect, and they will perform miraculous deeds - is as simple as it is profound. From a sleeping bag on the second floor of a dilapidated building he built one of the most extraordinary organizations in America, employing and training thousands. At the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, where he is president and CEO, he has grown a nearly bankrupt community training center into a successful organization, creating a model for education, training, arts and, most importantly, hope.
His work has brought him a MacArthur Genius grant, a Grammy award, an invitation to lecture at Harvard University, and a seat on the board of the National Endowment for the Arts. His simple message of leadership through believing in people and treating them with respect strikes a universal chord. |
