PAT SUMMITT
OPENING GENERAL SESSION
Monday, April 14
2:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The incomparable Pat Summitt, head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteer basketball team, is in her 33rd season at the helm of the nation's most successful program: a "hoopdom" built tirelessly, diligently and successfully by Summitt, her staff, and the student athletes.

Summitt is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA basketball history with more than 900 victories. In 2000, Summitt was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., the first time she was eligible for the Hall's ballot. A little more than a year earlier, she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

Summitt never underestimates the potential of her Lady Vol student-athletes who start seasons as believers and, by year's end, she has turned them into achievers. Given her pace of an average of 31.7 wins and only 4.4 losses per season for the past decade, Summitt could reach 1,000 wins in February 2009.
