SHRM Announces a Third Year of Funding for HR Internship Sponsorship Awards
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) announced an increase to the award funding available to support HR internships. Students studying HR at the undergraduate or graduate level are invited to apply and compete for award funding to help support a summer or fall 2010 HR internship. Awarded funding is available through December 31, 2010.
Apply through April 30, 2010
Twenty-five (25) undergraduate and fifteen (15) graduate sponsorship awards of $5,000 each--a total of $200,000--will be awarded by June 30, 2009. for the 2010 eligibility requirements and application form. International applicants are welcome!
This financial subsidy underscores SHRM's commitment to the next generation of HR professionals by providing an opportunity for students to take advantage of internship opportunities that will help them prepare for their career.
Selections are made by volunteer leaders from SHRM's five regions.

Any organization looking to fill an HR Internship vacancy can post their announcement and HR internship job description on SHRM's internship web site for free. We will also connect you with potential candidates through our Student Chapter network.

Sponsorship Award Recipients
Throughout 2008 and 2009, a total of 49 awards and $245,000 were distributed to qualified applicants who met the eligibility and selection criteria. For a list of recipients by region, click here.
A selection committee comprised of SHRM volunteer leaders from each o the five geographical regions judged the applications against the criteria to determine which applicants received the awards.
Each selected student received half of their awarded funding during the first week of his or her internship. The remaining half of the funding was awarded upon completion of the internship. Also, upon completion of the internship, each award recipient was asked to complete a short follow-up survey and write a brief paragraph about the internship experience. Each provided a job description as well.
