Jonathan Donner, VP, Global Learning, Unilever
Laszlo Bock, VP, People Operations, Google
Scott Beaty, Global Head of Learning Service, Shell

In this session we will help HR leaders navigate the subtle and not-so-subtle issues of crafting management teams that are world-class and world-wise, strategic and authentic. We wil explore practical ways to make your managers more self-aware and more cognizant of what it takes to be effective on the global stage.

Talent is now a global challenge and one of the greatest challenges companies face today is how to find, develop and deploy talent that is truly global in its outlook, able to lead a diverse, multi-cultural workforce effectively, and able to identify and nurture emerging high potentials who may come from backgrounds completely different from their own.

Gareth Jones, co-author of Why Should Anyone be Led by You?, brings both a practical and research-based approach to the challenges of developing global leaders. He will share frontline insights from work as senior vice president of human resources for Polygram and, later, director of human resources and internal communications at the BBC that gives him a valuable perspective on how to find and nurture talent globally and the importance of top team leadership in creating a culture in which diverse management talent thrives.

Warren Wilhelm will explore the latest concepts of leadership development and what they mean in a global context. He will discuss what it means to be a global leader in a large organization and will share new research on best-practice companies. His senior HR roles at Amoco and AlliedSignal have given him hands-on experience at building successful global leadership teams and this session will deliver practical insights that you can put to work in your organization. Warren will be joined by a panel of three senior leaders from global companies: Google, Shell, and Unilever.
