Employer Deadline Nears for Virtual Job Fair for Vets

Veteran Recruiting Services and ON24 Inc. are teaming up for what is being touted as the first virtual career fair for veterans with service-related disabilities.

“Despite an improving employment outlook overall, unemployment remains particularly high for our military veterans, particularly those with a service-related disability,” said Sharat Sharan, CEO of ON24 Inc., a webcasting and virtual events company based in San Francisco.

The event gives employers an opportunity to conduct mini-interviews. Job seekers get instant access to thousands of open positions. It will take place 1-4 p.m. EST on Oct. 31, 2012, as National Disability Employment Awareness Month comes to an end.

Amtrak, Convergys, Lowe’s, ManTech, Intuit, Exelon, Medtronic, the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Transportation Security Administration, Waste Management, Wellpoint and Xerox Business Services are among key employers participating in the virtual job fair.

Kevin O’Brien, managing partner of Veteran Recruiting Services based in the greater Philadelphia area, noted in a news release that for this event “employers and veterans are able to connect in real time without the cost, burden or environmental impact typically associated with more traditional recruiting events.”

Employers can register to participate at www.veteranrecruiting.com/employers.html through the end of Oct. 29.
