SHRM-AARP press release on 2013 AARP Best Employers Award Winners
This June 17, 2013 joint release highlights the 50 winning organizations of AARP’s Best Employers for Workers Over 50 Award, which SHRM co-sponsored. AARP and SHRM honored the winners at a ceremony in Chicago during SHRM’s 2013 Annual Conference.

List of 50 Best Employers Award Winners
Profiles of the 50 Award winners with summaries of their best practices for older workers. The 2013 winners are from a variety of sectors, including for-profit and nonprofit, health care, universities, financial services, construction, aerospace, and federal and county government.

November 12, 2013, AARP-SHRM Panel Discussion on “The Business Case for the 50+ Worker”
SHRM and its Rochester, New York chapter joined with AARP to honor the Greater Rochester YMCA, one of the winners of the 2013 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 Award. The event included a keynote presentation by AARP, followed by a panel discussion on the value of older workers, with speakers from AARP, the Rochester YMCA, Rochester SHRM, and local business leaders.

November 14, 2013, SHRM-AARP Program in Honor of Two Houston Best Employers Award Winners
The Houston SHRM chapter and the AARP Texas state office organized a program to celebrate the selection of the MD Anderson Cancer Center and MEI Technologies as winners of the 2013 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 Award and to highlight their older worker best practices. The program featured speakers from these two organizations, as well as representatives from SHRM, Houston SHRM, AARP, and the AARP Texas state office.

November 1, 2013, Learning Lunch co-sponsored by SHRM, AARP, and SHIFT
This event for Minnesota business leaders, entitled "The Experience Advantage: From Talent Cliff to Boomer Bridge," features a panel of experts on older worker issues. Among the panelists are representatives of AARP, SHRM, Hennepin County, MN, and Securian -- a leading financial services company and one of the winners of the 2013 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 Award.

AARP-SHRM Webinar: “Talent Acquisition for an Age-Diverse Workforce”
This September 24, 2013, webinar features executives from three organizations honored with the 2013 AARP Best Employers Award for Workers Over 50. The executives from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Cornell University, and Michelin North America outline many of their older worker best practices and strategies.

 2013 SHRM Annual Conference Panel With AARP Best Employers Award
Jean Setzfand, AARP’s VP of Financial Security, moderated a concurrent session panel with executives from three 2013 AARP Best Employers Award winning organizations: Phil Lenowitz of the National Institutes of Health, Vic Buzachero of Scripps Health, and Denise Sheehan of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Jim Schultz, Board Chair of the SHRM Foundation and Chevron Corporation General Manager for Corporate & Services, also participated.
