Because of the effects of Hurricane Sandy, the filing deadline for submitting the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS)-100 and VETS-100A reports has been extended to Nov. 9, 2012. All paper reports and electronic files received at the Service Desk by that date will be included as part of the 2012 filing cycle and will not be considered late.
The Department of Labor (DOL) uses the annual reports to collect and compile data on the employment of veterans with federal contractors and subcontractors, as required under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Act of 1972. The DOL previously had pushed back the deadline to Oct. 31 from Sept. 30, 2012.
The Jackson Lewis Workplace Resource Center points out that the reports are similar to the Employer Information Report EEO-1.
The DOL’s VETS website lists frequently asked questions and gives a bulleted list of the differences between the VETS-100 and 100A reports, including which type of contractors are covered by the VETS-100 or VETS-100A reporting requirements. The VETS-100A Report adopts the job categories used on the revised EEO-1 Report, while the VETS-100 Report has a single Officials and Managers job category, according to the DOL.
