ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Lisbeth Claus, Ph.D., SPHR, GPHR
Associate Professor, Global Human Resources, Atkinson Graduate School of Management, Willamette University, USA
Prior to joining Willamette University, Dr. Claus held faculty and administrative positions at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and managerial positions at Safeway Inc. and Maritz Inc. Dr. Claus has been published widely in academic and professional journals on subject matters related to international and global HR management issues, and is a frequent keynote speaker at national and international HR conferences. She is considered a leading expert on issues related to employee performance management for multinational companies and organizations.
Dr. Claus frequently delivers multi-day strategic HR seminars in Central and Eastern Europe, Eastern Africa, and Asia for country and regional HR managers. She was the 2003 president of SHRM Global, the international division of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In 2004, SHRM commissioned her to design the GPHR (Global Professional Human Resources) Certification Preparation Course. She is also a Global HR Special Expertise Panel member at SHRM. To advance the HR profession, she frequently volunteers her professional services for the establishment and development of country HR associations in emerging markets.
A native of Belgium, Dr. Claus speaks Flemish and French, and has a good working knowledge of German.

ABOUT HR CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE AND THE GPHR EXAM
The HR Certification Institute, an independent affiliate of SHRM, developed the GPHR certification and administers the exam. Important: To take the GPHR exam, you must complete a separate application form available through the HR Certification Institute at www.hrci.org.
- Due to the frequent changes in HR information, policies and regulations, it is recommended that participants take the GPHR certification exam in the same year that they complete the learning system.
- The SHRM Global Learning System does not teach to the exam. HR Certification Institute’s test items are held in strict security and are not made available to SHRM or any organization. The SHRM Global Learning System team developed its own activities and questions based on HR Certification Institute’s test specifications. And while these may be similar to certification exam items, they are not exact matches.
Important Dates and Locations
Testing is offered at more than 250 Thompson Prometric testing centers in the United States and Canada, and 116 internationally.
Winter Testing Window
Dec. 1–31, 2008 (four weeks)
Regular Deadline: Oct. 10, 2008
Late Deadline: Nov. 14, 2008
Note: HR Certification Institute exams are currently administered in English.
