Louis' career began with an undergrad degree in HR Administration from Muhlenberg College. Since then he attended law school and has spent more than the last 20 years representing public and private employers of all sizes and industries before administrative agencies like the EEOC and DOL as well as defending employers in state and federal court from the gamut of employment law issues as a partner in the Employment Group of the law firm of Brown & Connery, LLP. From pharma to defense contractors, healthcare to hospitality, auto dealers to technology organizations and food distributors Louis has brought a pragmatic approach to his representation of employers across the U.S. as well as advising clients on issues abroad. He has been quoted and interviewed by places like NPR and presented as a keynote speaker, breakout presenter, and trainer for many organizations throughout the U.S. including SHRM chapters, State Councils, and SHRM Annual conferences for most of his career.
Louis has worked with SHRM on numerous projects including drafting and advocating for legislative activities as a former State Legislative Director and now serving as a State Director for his home state of New Jersey. He has been accepted to present at every SHRM Annual Conference since 2007. Also known as the Employment Law TranslatorTM he has been published in various publications and received numerous awards for his work and is incredibly excited to be working as a SHRM instructor.
