Terry Welker, SHRM-SCP, began his career working in Public Safety as an investigator and climbed through the ranks to become a Chief Officer specializing in Human Resources before retiring after 26 years and moving into full-time HR work. Currently, Terry provides consulting services for both the private sector and public sector specializing in HR Audits and Compensation studies, and he was previously the Chief HR Executive for the City of Scottsdale, Arizona. In his "spare time," Terry has served as the Volunteer Leader and President of the Central Iowa SHRM Affiliate Chapter and is currently on faculty at Drake University teaching graduate and doctoral courses. Since 2012, Terry has taught over 3,000 students through SHRM's certification preparation program as well as many more students in the Foundation of Compensation and Essentials courses. Terry holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional designation and has completed his doctoral coursework for a PhD in Education. His research on bias within the hiring process will be defended for his dissertation Summer 2021.
