What do we know about motivating people to begin and maintain physical activity? When it comes to motivating people to be more physically active, how do you get started? Ken Resnicow, Ph.D., a leading researcher in health behavior and motivation at the University of Michigan, will discuss how recent advances in behavioral science can help motivate healthy behaviors across a diverse employee population.

The program will explore:
  • The differences between quality and quantity motivation.
  • How to create sticky motivation.
  • Which intervention methods work, why they work and for whom.
  • The roles of behavioral feedback and incentives.


Learn about our speaker About the Presenter: Ken Resnicow, Ph.D., is an Irwin M. Rosenstock Collegiate Professor of Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health at the University of Michigan (UM) and a senior leader at UM's Center for Health Communication Research. He is an internationally recognized expert in design and evaluation of health promotion interventions and motivational interviewing, as well as in design of culturally sensitive community-based interventions for health promotion. He is also an expert in community-based interventions for nutrition, physical activity and smoking prevention in minorities. His research interests include the design and evaluation of health promotion programs for special populations; understanding the relationship between ethnicity and health behaviors; and motivational interviewing for chronic disease prevention. He has worked extensively with numerous universities, research and practitioner groups and government agencies, including NIH and CDC.
