Program length: 60 minutes

Recognizing compensation’s role in driving employee engagement and retention, organizations design their pay programs to be externally competitive and internally equitable to stay competitive in their market. Yet many HR professionals continue to see a gap between the realities of their pay program and how "fair" employees perceive their pay to be.

To address this gap, you need a framework that helps you communicate your compensation philosophy effectively across the organization – and that leverages managers to help employees understand their pay. In this program, Valerie Fitzon-Moore, director of compensation and payroll services at CHRISTUS Health, and Kim Scott, professional services consultant at, will discuss how a compensation ambassador program can help you communicate your pay programs to the organization. They will outline the importance of developing a compensation program designed around your corporate values, and explore the challenges of enabling your managers to navigate the discomfort of discussing pay programs with their employees. You will get an actionable framework you can use to become the compensation beacon within your organization.

You will learn:

  • How to close the gap between compensation program design and employee perceptions of pay.
  • Communication’s role in building a fair and equitable compensation plan that aids in employee engagement and retention.
  • How to convert managers from messengers to compensation ambassadors.
  • How becoming your organization’s go-to resource for compensation information can help you become a more strategic organizational leader.
