In this program, representatives from Maryville University, Mercy Health System, and Pearson Education discuss how their partnership creates opportunities for education and employment. You will hear how Maryville University has worked with organizations like Mercy Health System to help provide their employees with the skillsets and competencies they need for 21st century challenges. The program will focus on how organizations and corporations of all kinds can benefit in multiple ways by creating these tight-knit partnerships with academic institutions; it starts by putting the employee/student front-and-center. About the Presenters: Brian DeKemper
is director of business development in the Online Learning Services division at Pearson. Working with partner universities, he uses Pearson’s marketing and research strengths to develop new program growth opportunities that align with partner strategy. Prior to joining Pearson, DeKemper worked on the higher education teams at both ANGEL Learning and Blackboard, where he was involved in all phases of program delivery –- from helping faculty with successful technology adoption, to designing service models for fully online program delivery.

Caitlin Ladd is associate director and strategic partnerships coordinator at Maryville University. Through building corporate engagement strategies with executive leadership and human resource professionals, Ladd highlights opportunities to increase employee development as well as discover academic solutions that fulfill the training needs of the employer. After spending nearly a decade working in higher education in the areas of recruitment, training and development, and enrollment management, she is passionate about educational access and identifying ways in which organizations can best invest in their employees. In addition to her work at Maryville, Ladd dedicates her time to a multitude of leadership and volunteer opportunities including the Workforce Alignment Committee of the St. Louis Regional Business Council, the Network of Academic Corporate Relations Officers, and the Young Friends of the Boys and Girls Club-Operations Council.

Julie Brooks, MSN, RN, is the critical care fellowship coordinator at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. She spent 20 years in corporate America before achieving her dream of becoming a registered nurse. Brooks has been at Mercy Hospital St. Louis for 14 years with varying roles during nursing school and during her nursing career. She is also a part-time faculty member at Maryville University and Central Methodist University-Onlin and is a recent winner of the Maryville Part Time Faculty Excellence Award.
