HR Professionals that dedicate time to mentoring the next generation of HR leaders are invaluable to students' career development. SHRM's mentorship experiences are designed to support students in sharpening their skills, expanding their professional network, and growing their HR knowledge.
In return, each experience will prove equally rewarding as you:
Our one-time, virtual mentoring events aim to empower future HR leaders with increased industry awareness of career pathways and insights, while also expanding professional networks.
As a mentor, these one-time events, ranging from 60-90 minutes, offer the most flexibility. You can serve as a panelist and/or as a career mentor for a small breakout group during these events.

The HR Talent Accelerator is a four-week virtual experience designed to empower students to apply their classroom knowledge and gain real-world exposure by partnering with HR professionals.
Mentors commit to coaching a small team of students to progress through a project from planning to final pitch. You'll guide your mentees through project challenges, share feedback, and help them reach solutions and goals with confidence. The overall mentor experience in the HR Talent Accelerator is estimated at 1 hour per week.
Each week, small groups of participants and mentors will work together in session to complete a project-based learning challenge related to the weekly HR theme.
Engage mentees in self-reflection on their experience, professional growth, and application of knowledge.
This 1:1 or small-group career mentoring experience pairs a SHRM student member with a SHRM professional member for a three-month virtual mentoring experience.
Students and mentors are matched based on preferences shared on the application and will start the experience with an orientation followed by three monthly coaching and mentoring sessions. These sessions are interactive and will equip students with the tools they need to achieve professional goals.
The overall time commitment for mentors participating in the HR Career Mentoring experience is 4-8 hours throughout the three-month period.
Great conversations going on, I saw quite a few of my students participating.
The event was full of positive energy and great flow. Very approachable personalities, which is hard to convey via this medium.
This is by far the best webcast I've been a part of. Continue to provide more of these. Genuine real people sharing real experience and life. Love it. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this opportunity. I greatly value the knowledge I've gained and connections I've made with others.
