Michelle is a seasoned modern marketing executive having led and supported business transformations as a board director, F100 global executive, growth advisor, author, speaker and start-up founder. Working with talented teams, she has accelerated growth for some of the most iconic and legacy brands and businesses, serving as Chief Marketing Officer for Barclaycard, Mercer (Marsh McLennan Companies), Staples – the fourth largest e-commerce site in the US – and New York Life. 

Michelle started her career as a client leader at Digitas, Epsilon and Ogilvy. During her 10 years at Ogilvy, she was General Manager of the North America consulting business and Co-President/COO of the New York office, managing the $250M P&L. Her leadership contributed to the 5x agency expansion and Ogilvy’s recognition as the leading digital provider by Gartner at the time she accepted her first CMO role in 2008. Presently, Michelle serves as Founder and CEO of the Modern Growth Exchange, a tech-enabled consulting firm that provides tools for leaders to accelerate their shift to customer-centric growth. 

A fellow with the National Association of Corporate Directors, Michelle served on the Bose Corp board, and currently serves on the boards of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) chairing the Governance Committee, PROPHET, Bond Brand Loyalty, Susan G. Komen and Open Road (a Clarion Capital Company).

Michelle was named to Extraordinary Women on Boards, New York’s Most Influential Women in Marketing, Working Mother of the Year by Advertising Women of New York and a Woman of Power and Influence by the New York chapter of the National Organization for Women. She is a member of the Women’s Forum of New York, the Executive Forum and Women Corporate Directors.

Bottomley has taken courses toward a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University (ABD), after completing a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Economics from Northeastern University.
