Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Human Resource Management, the world's largest HR professional Society. Prior to joining SHRM, he served as president and CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. He has also served as Senior VP of HR for IAC/InterActive Corp, a litigation partner and president of the HR consulting group for the law firm McGuireWoods, General Counsel and Senior VP of HR for Viacom's Paramount Pictures Live Entertainment Group, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Compass Group USA and Associate General Counsel and VP of HR for Blockbuster Entertainment Group.
Mr. Taylor is a former chair of the SHRM Board of Directors and currently serves on the boards of Gallup and Jobs for America's Graduates. He is on the University of Miami's Board of Trustees and the American Red Cross's Board of Governors and is an adviser to Safe Streets & Second Chances. In 2018, he was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to chair the President's Advisory Board on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. He holds both a JD and an MA from Drake University and a BS from the University of Miami. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, Illinois and Washington, D.C.
