MONTREAL—Nancy Adler, Ph.D., holder of the S. Bronfman Chair at Montreal’s McGill University has been awarded The George Petitpas Memorial Award, one of the most prestigious HR awards in the world.
Presented by the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA), the award was established in the mid-1980s in memory of Georges Petitpas, who contributed significantly to the development and activities of the WFPMA and died shortly after his nomination to the WFPMA presidency in 1983.
The award is presented at the WFPMA World Congress every two years.
Adler conducts research on cross-cultural management and global leadership. An esteemed consultant, she advises governments and private corporations on projects worldwide. She has penned more than 120 articles, written 10 books and produced films, including, “Portable Life,” and “Reinventing Our Legacy.”In 2010, she published the “Leadership Insight”journal.
A former professor at the University of Hong Kong, Adler has taught executive seminars in Italy, England and France. She’s received a number of prestigious awards, including the McGill University Distinguished Teaching Award in Management, which she has won twice. Selected as a Teaching Fellow, she has been deemed one of Canada’s top university professors.
An accomplished visual artist, Adler paints as well. Her most recent exhibition, “Transposition de la realite,” was on display at Montreal’s Galerie MX.
The Georges Petitpas Award honors those who, like Petitpas, embody the spirit of and dedication to the HR profession and who have made significant contributions to international HR and to the goals of the WFPMA.
In 2008, the award went to personnel practitioner, lawyer, academic and author Carlos Aldao Zapiola from Argentina. In 2006, the award went to former WFPMA President Michael Losey, a longtime president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management.
