The head coach of the Duke University Blue Devils basketball
program in Durham, N.C., who led the team to its fifth NCAA championship in
2015, will be the opening keynote speaker June 28 at the Society for Human Resource Management 2015 Annual Conference &
Exposition in Las Vegas.
Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, 12-time National Coach of the Year and
all-time winningest Division 1 basketball coach, will present “Victory Through
Teamwork and Leadership.” A look at his stats shows that victory is something
that Krzyzewski—named in 2011 to the Naismith Basketball Hall of
Fame—understands. His achievements include:
Over the years, Krzyzewski coached six players who were named
National Defensive Player of the Year, and seven players he coached were named
National Player of the Year.
He is the co-author of A Season Is a
Lifetime: The Inside Story of the Duke Blue
Devils and Their Championship Seasons(Simon &
Schuster, 1993), written after Duke’s 1992 national championship win. He
also co-wrote Beyond Basketball: Coach K’s Keywords for
Success (Business Plus,
2007) and The Gold Standard: Building a World-Class
Team (Business Plus, 2009). The latter is a guide to team building using his
experiences over three years of coaching the players who would win a gold medal
at the 2008 Olympics.
Krzyzewski joins a stellar line-up of conference speakers that
includes television journalist Mika Brzenzinski, author and consultant Marcus Buckingham, and surgeon and TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz.
