The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Secretary of State and former U.S. Senator from New York, will deliver a keynote address June 16 at the Society for Human Resource Management’s 2013 Annual Conference & Exposition in Chicago.
Clinton served as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. She played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East.
As First Lady and then Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. Clinton also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic campaign for President, Clinton won 18 million votes.
“Hillary Clinton is a woman of accomplishments,” said Henry G. (Hank) Jackson, SHRM’s CEO and president. “She has always been a great advocate on a range of important issues and we are delighted that she will address this important national gathering of HR leaders from around the world.”
Conference Speakers, Entertainment
Clinton joins a stellar lineup of keynote speakers:
The conference’s June 18 concert will spotlight “American Idol” winner and pop star Kelly Clarkson.
Registration and housing for the conference are open. Human resource professionals with PHR, SPHR, GPHR or California certifications who attend the conference can earn up to 14 recertification credits.
SHRM is celebrating its 65th anniversary during the June 16-19 Annual Conference at McCormick Place convention center. More than 15,000 HR professionals are expected to attend. Founded in 1948 as the American Society for Personnel Administration, the Society held its first annual conference in Cleveland with 67 attendees.
