Richard M. Vosburgh, Ph.D., president of RMV Solutions, has been elected chair of the HR People + Strategy (HRPS) board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2016.
HRPS is the executive network for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The HRPS board is responsible for governance and strategic direction and establishes policies and activities consistent with HRPS’s vision, mission and strategy.
Vosburgh is a longtime volunteer with HRPS. He is retired from KEMET Electronics Corp., where he was senior vice president of HR and chief HR officer. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of HR for Mirage Resorts and spent six years with Compaq and with Hewlett-Packard, most recently as vice president of HR, Asia Pacific.
His background also includes serving as vice president of HR for a division of Campbell Soup, as chief HR officer at Vlasic Foods International, as head of HR at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and at Mervyn’s department stores, and in leadership roles at Volkswagen and PepsiCo.
He is the author of Career Development for Engineers and Scientists (John Wiley & Sons, 1987) and co-edited Point Counterpoint: New Perspectives on People and Strategy (SHRM, 2012). Vosburgh has served on the board of directors of Hewlett-Packard Federal and on the advisory board for the University of Southern California’s Center for Effective Organizations. He is a member of the SHRM Certification Commission and has a doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of South Florida.
