The SHRM Foundation will award a $2,500 undergraduate scholarship in 2020 in memory of SHRM employee Callie Zipple, SHRM-SCP. Zipple, who served as field services director for SHRM members in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, passed away Sept. 12. She was 32 years old.

The scholarship was announced Nov. 14 during the opening session of the 2019 SHRM Volunteer Leaders' Business Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Zipple joined the SHRM staff in 2017. Based in Kenosha, Wis., she supported SHRM volunteers and was active in working with student members. Prior to that, she was a member of the Society's Young Professional Advisory Council and held several volunteer positions with the Wisconsin SHRM State Council. She worked in HR for seven years before coming to SHRM.

  • Be in a degree program that is HR-related (business, psychology, HR, organizational development or other similar programs).
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
