“This year we plan to award 185 certification scholarships—totaling $138,000 —and $87,500 in educational undergraduate and graduate scholarships for HR professionals,” said Beth McFarland, director of Foundation programs.
The SHRM Foundation will offer five new scholarships to attend Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) conferences:
The SHRM Foundation is increasing the dollar amounts for individual education scholarships to $2,500 for five undergraduate students and to $5,000 for 15 graduate students. Check the Foundation website for deadline information.
Applications for certification scholarships will be accepted twice each year, in July and December, and winners will be announced in October and March to better align with the two SHRM certification testing windows.
Other financial awards available through the Foundation include the student chapter Advisor of the Year Award (deadline March 15), the HRM Impact Awards (deadline April 30), the Michael R. Losey Excellence in Human Resource Research Award (deadline July 15) and the Susan R. Meisinger Fellowship for Graduate Study in HR (deadline Aug. 15).
These scholarships and awards are made possible, McFarland noted, through the generous donations of SHRM members, chapters and state councils to the SHRM Foundation. See www.shrmfoundation.org for more information.
