Alexandria, Va. - Today, the judge overseeing SHRM’s lawsuit against the federal government regarding E-Verify, approved an agreement to continue to stay the lawsuit while the Department of Homeland Security continues to re-evaluate the rule. A notice delaying the rule until September 8, 2009 is expected to be published soon in the Federal Register.

Today’s actions represent the third time the agency and SHRM, along with other parties to the lawsuit, have agreed to delay its implementation. SHRM brought suit against the government in December of 2008 challenging DHS’s authority to mandate E-Verify’s use by federal contractors.
