ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Employers are juggling more legislative issues than ever after recent political events like the 2012 election, the passage of healthcare reform and the sequestration. More than 600 human resource professionals will arrive in Washington, D.C. on March 10 to get the most up-to-date information on how to help their organizations comply with new or changing laws.

Concurrent sessions led by employment attorneys and business experts will cover a variety of topics, including healthcare reform, employment testing, immigration, discrimination and social media at work.
Representative Richard Neal (D-Mass.) and Representative Shelley Moore Capito (R-WVa.) will make opening remarks during a Hill Day breakfast before attendees embark on their visits with lawmakers. In a different session, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) commissioners Chai Feldblum and Victoria Lipnic will outline the EEOC’s priorities for 2013.
Press briefing: Members of Congress work long hours whether in session or not and describe themselves as highly committed to their work, according to new research from SHRM and the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF).This first-of-its-kind survey about the job satisfaction of members of the U.S. House of Representatives will be released at a press briefing at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Grand Canyon Room of the Hyatt Regency. Brad Fitch of CMF and Lisa Horn of SHRM will be available at the press briefing for comment on this unique look at Congress as a workplace. Two members of Congress can be available for comment.
