SHRM Attends ‘Pledge to America’s Workers’ White House One-Year Anniversary Event, in Its Ongoing Support of Initiative

Last year, SHRM pledged to train 127K+ HR professionals through certification programs over next five years

Today, the White House invited companies who signed the Pledge to America’s Workers one year ago—including SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management—to give comments about how their programs have benefited their employees and organizations thus far.

Attending the White House event were SHRM employees, Savita Raeisian, senior talent acquisition specialist and Yuletta Pringle, HR Knowledge Advisor for SHRM, who both have been positively impacted by SHRM’s commitment to continuing education.

“SHRM stood with me every step of the way during my SHRM certification process, by providing the time and tools to prepare for the exam,” Pringle said. “I was even given time off to participate in a SHRM three-day preparatory class.”

“It is exceptionally rewarding to have met the qualifications and requirements as an HR Certified Professional. The knowledge and confidence gained will empower me to excel in my current position and prepare me for new opportunities in the future.”

When SHRM’s CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. signed the pledge on behalf of SHRM and its members last year, the organization promised to expand work training by committing to educate and prepare more than 127,000 HR professionals through the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certification programs over the next five years. Thus far, SHRM is tracking well above pace to meet that number with over 53,000 HR professionals becoming certified, re-recertified, or participating in specialty credentials or educational seminars within the past year.

To schedule an interview with Ms. Pringle, please contact Vanessa Hill of SHRM’s Media Affairs team at Vanessa.Hill@shrm.org or 703-535-6072. The event will be livestreamed at www.whitehouse.gov/live/ on Thursday from 3:30-4 p.m. EST.
