ALEXANDRIA, Va., — The SHRM Foundation has announced an annual gift from the HR Certification Institute for up to $1 million a year over the next five years.
HR Certification Institute proposed a donation of $750,000 as an annual base gift, said Mark Schmit, executive director of the SHRM Foundation. In addition, it will match 50 cents for every $1 raised through the foundation’s annual campaign, with the exception of corporate giving and SHRM contributions. The HR Certification Institute’s annual donation will total up to $1 million for each of five years.
“The SHRM Foundation is very appreciative of the generous donation it has received from the HR Certification Institute. It will significantly enhance our ability to advance the HR profession,” Schmit said. “The money will be used to fund evidence-based research, scholarships and educational promotions to advance the HR profession.” “The HR Certification Institute is proud to continue our commitment and support of the SHRM Foundation,” said Amy Dufrane, the institute’s interim executive director. “We see our support of the foundation as an investment in the human resources profession. From scholarships for students and professionals who want to advance their careers to awards for research, the foundation is a constant supporter of both individuals and businesses dedicated to best practices in human resources. The foundation helps create those best practices and is an incredibly important resource for organizations and individuals who understand that solid, expert HR practices are vital to business today.”
For the past 40 years, the SHRM Foundation has focused its contributions to the HR profession in four areas: identifying business challenges and trends for the future; conducting research to solve current or emerging challenges; providing scholarships for HR professionals and students and certification scholarships; and developing educational materials and events for HR professionals and business leaders.
Since 1976, the HR Certification Institute has been a globally recognized leader and organization devoted to certifying human resource professionals. It awards the following credentials: Professional in Human Resources (PHR®), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®), Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR®), California certifications (PHR-CA®) and (SPHR-CA®), Human Resource Management Professional (HRMP ℠) and Human Resource Business Professional (HRBP ℠).
