(Alexandria, Va., January 10, 2006)—The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) announces that Beverly K. Carmichael will serve on the 2006 SHRM Board of Directors. SHRM is the leading voice of the human resource profession, representing the interests of more than 200,000 professional and student members from around the world.
In November 2005, Carmichael accepted the position of vice president of talent acquisition, learning & organizational development for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Ia. Rockwell Collins is a leader in the design, production and support of communication and aviation electronics with offices worldwide and was recently named by Forbes Magazine as the best managed aerospace and defense company on Forbes’ “Best Managed Companies in America” list.
Prior to that, Carmichael was vice president of labor and employee relations for Southwest Airlines Co. in Dallas where she was a member of Dallas HR, the local SHRM chapter. She joined Southwest Airlines in 1995 and held various titles, including vice president for people and chief counsel of labor and employment. Carmichael also worked as an associate of litigation and employment for Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. and held various management positions at Sun Oil Company.
Carmichael currently serves on the University of Oklahoma MBA Advisory Board, and formerly served on the Texas A&M Center for Human Resources Management Board, the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center and the Family Place Board in Dallas.
Carmichael obtained a BBA-Management and a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma and is licensed to practice law in California, Texas, and the District of Columbia.
