SHRM 2012 Annual Conference: Condoleezza Rice, Tom Brokaw, Malcolm Gladwell, Jim Collins to Headline

Alexandria, Va. – Nearly 13,000 human resource professionals from across the U.S. and roughly 65 countries will attend the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) 64th Annual Conference and Exposition, June 24-27, 2012 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. (Twitter: #SHRM12)

SHRM’s 2012 annual conference will offer access to thought leaders in people management, practical and innovative resources for managing today’s labor force, and an exhibition hall featuring business tools, services, and representatives from roughly 700 companies.

Attendees will have access to more than 200 concurrent sessions including:

  • 20-plus sessions covering benefits and compensation including analytics, wellness programs and engagement, and benefits that attract specific diverse groups;

  • 40 sessions providing instruction in business management and strategy including change management, business acumen, metrics, return on investment, sustainability;

  • 20-plus sessions highlighting international HR including cultural competence, employer branding, spotlights on the Middle East, China, and Brazil, global branding, and international retirement plans;

  • 50 sessions focused on talent management including workplace flexibility, social media and HR practices, skilled older workers, employees with disabilities, and military veterans.

Headlining the conference will be Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. Secretary of State, and Tom Brokaw, former broadcast journalist and best-selling author.

Jim Collins, a leading business strategist and best-selling author will also headline the conference, sharing insights.

The conference will also feature timely information regarding the new, updated, and existing laws and regulations that U.S. employers must follow:

  • nearly 50 sessions focused on specific employment law and legislation covering domestic-partner and same-sex partner benefits, social media, privacy, wage and hour compliance, ERISA and benefits plans, genetic nondiscrimination laws, FMLA compliance, California-specific laws, ADAAA laws, and more; and

  • a spotlight on employment law and legislation information specific to non-traditional discrimination claims including same-sex sexual harassment, female-on-male sexual harassment, and same-race harassment.

The conference will also address the manufacturing sector’s skilled-worker shortage during the joint SHRM-U.S. Department of Labor summit, Sunday, June 24, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. EDT: Keeping America Competitive: Addressing the Skills Gap in Manufacturing.”
