Annual award recognizing HR leadership given by SHRM, HRCI and SHRM Foundation
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Ivette Mendez Dupuis, SPHR, GPHR, is the recipient of the 2013 Susan R. Meisinger Fellowship, an annual award given to a human resource professional who demonstrates extraordinary leadership.
The honor — a $10,000 fellowship for graduate studies given by the Society for Human Resource Management, the HR Certification Institute and the SHRM Foundation — was presented today at SHRM’s annual Leadership Conference in suburban Washington, D.C.
“A key business leader and partner, but also an employee advocate — that’s how Ivette Dupuis describes her future role in HR,” said Henry G. (Hank) Jackson, president and CEO of SHRM. “Her past contributions as an HR professional are worthy of recognition, and we look forward to her contributions that are yet to come as Ivette earns her master’s degree in HR.”
The fellowship, established in 2009 to help develop the next generation of HR leaders, is named in honor of Sue Meisinger, SPHR, who served as SHRM’s president and CEO from March 2002 until her retirement in July 2008.
Dupuis, of Orlando, is enrolled in the Master of Human Resources program at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. Her concentration is international human resource management and management consulting.
She is the former director of administration at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Annapolis, Md., where she led the HR and finance teams. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational behavior and business administration from Rollins College.
Dupuis said she wants to further her education in the theory and practice of HR, particularly in international business and global diversity. “The contemporary business world is exciting and constantly evolving as today’s workplaces are without borders and global connectivity has become the norm,” she wrote in her fellowship application.
The fellowship provides up to $10,000 annually for no more than two years of graduate study in HR. To be eligible, an HR professional must be pursuing a first-time graduate degree and either be a member of SHRM or hold a professional certification from the HR Certification Institute.
