Alexandria, Va. — As thousands of human resource professionals from across the country and around the world gather for the 2014 SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition, the Society for Human Resource Management and the SHRM Foundation will release new research that provides insight into today’s workplace and a glimpse into work and the worker of the future.
The results of SHRM’s annual Employee Benefits Survey will be released on Tuesday, June 24. The national survey asked U.S. employers which of 300 benefits they offered to employees and which they plan to offer in the coming year. For the first time, the survey this year asked HR professionals whether their organizations offered divorce insurance, safety bonus/incentives, free snacks and beverages, electric vehicle charging stations, and company paraphernalia.
On Monday, June 23, the SHRM Foundation will release the Evolution of Work and the Worker report, which was written by The Economist Intelligence Unit. The report is the first of three research projects in the SHRM Foundation’s work identifying and analyzing critical trends that will affect the workplace in the next five years and beyond.
The research and a new aging-workforce project from SHRM and the SHRM Foundation will be detailed during press briefings at the Annual Conference, which is being held June 22-25 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The press availabilities are:
The briefings will be held in the west building room 205A&B of the convention center. Reporters not attending the Annual Conference may contact SHRM Media Relations for dial-in directions to participate in the briefings via conference call.
In addition, SHRM experts are available for interviews on topics including immigration reform, employee relations, legislation affecting the workplace and social media in the workplace. Various SHRM experts will be available in the conference press room (205A&B) at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23.
