ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR association, has announced its Board of Directors for 2014.
Scott R. Washburn, SPHR, vice president of human resources at Tree Top Inc. in Selah, Wash., was elected to the board, and board member David Windley, executive vice president of human resources at Fusion-io in Salt Lake City, was re-elected to the board. Both were elected to two-year terms.
Brian D. Silva, SPHR, GPHR, senior vice president of human resources and administration at Fresenius Medical Care NA in Waltham, Mass., was elected chair designate. He will chair the board for two years beginning in 2015.
The 2014 board is chaired by Bette J. Francis, SPHR, vice president/director of human resources for Wilmington Trust Wealth Advisory Services in Wilmington, Del. Other elected board members continuing on the board for 2014 are:
SHRM President and CEO Henry G. (Hank) Jackson is an ex officio voting member of the board.
Brian D. Silva, SPHR, GPHR, is senior vice president of human resources and administration for Fresenius Medical Care, the global leader in kidney care. Before joining Fresenius, he was senior vice president of HR at Gentiva Health Services. Before Gentiva Health Services, Silva served as senior vice president of HR and administration and was corporate secretary for Linens N Things. Previously, he held HR positions with Allstate Insurance and Guardian Insurance. He has served on the Board of Directors for 24/7 Real Media, and as an instructor in the New York Institute of Technology’s Graduate School of Management. Silva holds a master’s degree in organization psychology from Columbia University and a master’s degree in HR management from the New York Institute of Technology. He earned his undergraduate degree at St. John’s University.
Scott R. Washburn, SPHR, is vice president human resources for Tree Top Inc. in Selah, Wash., and serves as a member of Tree Top’s executive committee. He has overall HR responsibility for 1,100 employees in multiple locations on the West Coast. Washburn has been an avid SHRM volunteer with 16 years of progressive leadership experience at the student, local, state, and regional levels. Most recently, he was a Membership Advisory Council (MAC) member, representing the Pacific West Region to the SHRM Leadership Team and Board of Directors. A SHRM member since 1994, he holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Washington University.
David Windley is executive vice president of human resources for Fusion-io in Salt Lake City. Prior to joining Fusion-io, Windley was chief HR officer at Yahoo! Inc. Before becoming CHRO, he was vice president of HR. Windley also has served as general manager of HR supporting the chief operating officer’s organization at Microsoft, where he had responsibilities for leading international HR. Earlier, he was vice president of HR at Intuit Inc. He worked for 10 years at Silicon Graphics, most recently as vice president of HR. Earlier in his career, he worked in HR management positions in the construction/engineering, insurance, and entertainment/software industries. He holds a master’s of business administration degree from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s of science degree from San Diego State University.
