15 Young Professionals Elected to SHRM Young Professionals Advisory Council

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Fifteen young professionals were elected to serve on the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) highly selective Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC) for a one-year term, beginning on Jan. 1, 2015. 

SHRM received over 200 applications for only 15 spots on the council. Of those chosen, several work for Fortune 500 companies such as McDonald’s, Honda, Microsoft and Capital One. 

The council advocates for SHRM’s young professional members (those under age 30) and provides guidance to SHRM for attracting and retaining nonmember young professionals. 

“Those selected for this opportunity are an extraordinary group with diverse experience in the human resources profession,” said Nancy Conway, field services director at SHRM. “They are making a positive impact on the future of human resources.”

As members of YPAC, these young professionals will help to:

  • Provide feedback to SHRM regarding potential and existing services for young professional members; 
  • Strategize ways to provide resources to chapters to recruit new young professional members; 
  • Assist with transitioning student members to young professional members; 
  • Support SHRM social media efforts;
  • Coordinate the establishment and support of young professional activities. 

2015 Young Professionals Advisory Council Members:

  • Daisy Alviso (incumbent – 2nd year) (Alamo, Texas), senior employee relations specialist, Frost Bank;
  • Daniel Cross (Wilmington, Del.), senior HR consultant, Capital One Financial Corp.;
  • Ashley Eckard (Rising Sun, Md.), HR director, Calvert Manor Healthcare Center; 
  • Kelsey Esquinas (Columbus, Ind.), talent acquisition manager, Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies; 
  • Tom Eyberg (Overland Park, Kan.), HR coordinator, Erickson Living;
  • Chanel Jackson (incumbent – 2nd year) (Raymond, Ohio), HR business partner, Honda R&D Americas Inc.;
  • Brooke Liu-Boston (Caledonia, Mich.), corporate project manager & HR specialist, Acrisure;
  • Gregory Low (San Francisco), senior business partner, HR, Jones Lang LaSalle;
  • Jessica Lustig (incumbent – 2nd year) (New York), assistant director, human resources, The College Board; 
  • Jeromy Manke (incumbent – 2nd year) (Reno, Nev.), HR generalist, Strategic HR Partners, LLC; 
  • Kevin Mottram (incumbent – 2nd year) (Issaquah, Wash.), HR manager, Microsoft; 
  • Catherine Preim (incumbent – 2nd year) (Philadelphia), HR generalist, SYSTRA Consulting;​
  • Christopher Stewart (incumbent – 2nd year) (Raleigh, N.C.), regional HR consultant, McDonald’s USA, LLC; 
  • Eve Sweeting (incumbent – 2nd year) (Punta Gorda, Fla.), HR generalist, Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners; 
  • Callie Zipple (incumbent – 2nd year) (Lincolnshire, Ill.), senior HR coordinator, Zebra Technologies.
