SHRM’s Annual Honors Salute Visionaries and Teams
Alexandria, VA – The world’s largest association devoted to human resource management is accepting nominations for its annual Human Capital Leadership Awards, one of the most prestigious honors in the HR profession. Now in its third year, the awards program, sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), recognizes HR leaders and departments for excellence in developing innovative and strategic business solutions.
The awards are the highest recognition given by SHRM to human resources practitioners. Nominations are accepted online at
“Innovative leadership in human capital is critical to any organization’s success,” said Susan R. Meisinger, President and CEO of SHRM. “These awards not only recognize the best examples of leadership, but also provide valuable insights into HR-driven business solutions that create real bottom-line results.”
The SHRM Human Capital Leadership Awards recognize excellence in four categories. Three awards honor exemplary HR departments for
Innovative Business Solutions, Competitive Workforce initiatives,and Strategic HR Leadership. The fourth award, the
Human Capital Business Leader of the Year Award, honors a senior HR leader. One winner and two finalists are selected in each category.
Past winners include IBM, The Coca-Cola Company, Leviton Manufacturing Co., Kimberly-Clark Co., and the U.S. Army, Europe.
“Awards winners are demonstrating how HR professionals can be true strategic business partners and catalysts for change,” said Meisinger. “Creating new ways of learning, leading, working and winning are what the SHRM Leadership Awards recognize.”
Following are the criteria for each of the four awards:
Companies and/or individuals may submit nominations for the Human Capital Leadership Awards, and the competition is open to SHRM members and non-members alike. There are no entry fees and an online application system makes it easy to apply. The deadline for nominations is May 30, 2008.
Winners and finalists will be honored at a special event at SHRM’s Strategy Conference, Sept. 24-26 in Palm Springs, CA. Winners will be profiled in the November 2008 issue of
HR Magazine, on the SHRM Web site, and in research as examples of “best practices.”
