Darrow Named Chair of SHRM Foundation Board of Directors

2015 board consists of 11 notable academics, HR practitioners and SHRM members

Tom Darrow, 2015-16 SHRM Foundation Board Chair
ALEXANDRIA, Va., —Tom Darrow, SHRM-SCP, founder and principal of Talent Connections LLC and Career Spa LLC, has been elected chair of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation Board of Directors. He began a two-year term on Jan. 1.

“I’m honored to serve the human resources profession as the 2015-2016 Board Chair of the SHRM Foundation,” said Darrow. “With support from SHRM, our generous donors, dedicated staff and board members, the SHRM Foundation will continue its mission in the coming year of shaping the future of HR.”

Darrow brings more than 27 years of human resources experience to his new appointment, including nine years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.

The SHRM Foundation, a not-for-profit affiliate of SHRM, is governed by a volunteer board of directors, including academics, practitioners and representatives from SHRM membership. The 2015 board consists of 11 members, including three officers and eight directors.

With Darrow’s appointment, James Schultz, a retired human resources executive from Chevron Corporation, becomes the immediate past chair of the 2015 SHRM Foundation Board. Karen B. Paul, Ph.D., leader of the Measurement and Employment Brand Center of Expertise at 3M, holds the remaining officer position; she serves as the secretary and treasurer of the board.

Also serving on the 2015 SHRM Foundation Board of Directors are:
  • Elizabeth Larson, vice president of compensation at MassMutual;
  • Edward Lawler III, Ph.D., professor at the University of Southern California;
  • Nereida Perez, vice president of global diversity and inclusion at Ingersoll Rand;
  • Jeff T. Pon, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, chief human resources and strategy officer at SHRM;
  • Ann Marie Ryan, Ph.D., professor at Michigan State University;
  • Sara Rynes, Ph.D., professor at the University of Iowa;
  • Elizabeth Sartain, SHRM-SCP, principal of Libby Sartain LLC; and •Tina Sung, vice president of government transformation and agency partnerships at Partnership for Public Service.
