McDonald’s Executive and Recruiting Expert Appointed to SHRM Foundation Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. - The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors - Don Crosby of Chicago, Illinois, and Thomas M. Darrow of Roswell, Georgia.

The SHRM Foundation, a not-for-profit affiliate of SHRM, advances HR education, innovation, and research to increase the impact of human resources in business strategy and organizational development.

Crosby is filling a director-at-large vacancy and will begin his one and a half year term immediately. Darrow will begin his one- year term in 2010 as a designated director-at-large. Darrow was appointed by Robb Van Cleave, chairman of the SHRM Board of Directors.

“We are happy that Don and Tom are joining the SHRM Foundation Board of Directors,” said Lyle Hanna, SPHR, chairman of the SHRM Foundation Board. “Their extensive experience with business strategy, human resources and global business is integral to accomplishing our mission of using education, research and innovation to enhance HR’s role in business development and strategy.”

Don Crosby

Before becoming the senior vice president of international and home office human resources for the McDonald’s Corporation, Crosby started as a manager trainee in 1975. He oversees McDonald’s home office HR division and the development of international HR strategies and plans in support of the achievement of the company’s overall corporate strategies.

Crosby served for four years in the United States Marine Corps and took business administration classes at Broome Community College.

Thomas M. Darrow

Darrow is the founder and principal of Talent Connections, LLC and a principal with Career Spa, LLC.

Darrow brings more than 19 years experience in human resources and recruitment. Past positions include senior HR roles with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture.He also served as the 2006-2007 President of SHRM-Atlanta, and was a charter member of the SHRM Foundation Board’s Advisory Council. He is the 2009 SHRM Georgia State Council President-Elect.

Darrow holds a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame.
