ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation has announced that Tina Sung will join its board of directors.
Sung, vice president for government transformation and agency partnerships at the Partnership for Public Service in Washington, D.C., will serve a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2013.
“Employee engagement, leadership and operational excellence are among the expertise areas that Tina Sung brings to the SHRM Foundation Board of Directors. We welcome her to this distinguished group that guides the Foundation’s work fostering human resources,” said James Schultz, chair of the 2013 SHRM Foundation Board of Directors.
Sung oversees the Partnership for Public Service’s efforts to help federal agencies become “Best Places to Work” and a Strategic Advisors for Government Executives program.
Before joining the Partnership for Public Service, she founded and served as president of Synergy Works LLC and founded a second company, Experience Matters: the Executive Transition Experts. She is a past president and CEO of the American Society for Training & Development.
A graduate of Princeton University, Sung completed Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Managers and the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership and Management Program.
The SHRM Foundation, a not-for-profit affiliate of SHRM, advances global HR education and practice. It is governed by a board of directors who come from the HR profession, including academics, practitioners and representatives from SHRM.

Klein, Ph.D., immediate past chair and professor of management and HR in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University; Tom Darrow, founder and principal of Talent Connections LLC; Steven Ginsburgh, senior vice president of HR and workforce development at Universal Weather and Aviation; Gerlinde Herrmann, CHRP, GPHR, founder and president of The Herrmann Group Limited; Richard Klimoski, Ph.D., professor of psychology and management at George Mason University; Elizabeth Larson, compensation director at MassMutual; Edward Lawler III, Ph.D., distinguished professor of business and director of the Center for Effective Organizations in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California; Merry Lee Lison, SPHR, GPHR, director of HR and training at TRC Global Solutions; Nereida Perez, vice president global diversity and inclusion at Ingersoll Rand; Sara Rynes, Ph.D., John F. Murray professor of management and organizations for the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business; Libby Sartain, human resources adviser and author of Brand for Talent and HR from the Heart; M. Susan Taylor, Ph.D., professor in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland; Padma Thiruvengadam, HR director at Integra; and Jeff T.H. Pon, Ph.D., chief human resources and strategy officer at SHRM.
The SHRM Foundation is a leading funder of HR research and awards $170,000 annually in education and certification scholarships to professional and student SHRM members, and doctoral students.
