SHRM’s Lee Webster Appointed Director-At-Large to American National Standards Institute Board
Alexandria, Va. – The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) today appointed Lee Webster, the director of HR standards at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), to a three year-term as a director-at-large on the ANSI board of directors.
As a director-at-large, Webster will work with members of the board to determine and approve the policies and direction of ANSI’s strategic vision, approve appointments to board committees, and elect board officers. Voted to the board by the ANSI membership, his term will begin in January 2012.
“I am honored to join ANSI’s board of directors,” said Webster. “The role is recognition of SHRM’s work to help create standards for the human resources industry. I look forward to continuing this important work with SHRM members and the HR community.”
Webster also was elected recently as the chair of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) technical committee for human resource management (ISO TC 260 for HRM) and vice chair of the ANSI organizational member forum.
Webster joined SHRM in 2008 as the director of HR standards. He is responsible for overseeing the development of organizational ANSI and ISO Human Resource standards.
Webster is an adjunct professor in human resources and business strategy at Trinity University, American University and Regent University. Prior to joining SHRM, he worked at Exxon Mobil, and PepsiAmericas, and in other international Fortune 500 firms.Webster also spent several years in the military as an infantry officer.
Webster holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a master’s degree in management systems from the University of Central Texas, and a juris doctorate and master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University.
