Research on Work/Life in Congress to be Released Oct. 24 by SHRM and CMF

WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 15, 2012 – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) will release the first research report in a three-part series about Congress as a workplace.

WHAT: Release of “Life in Congress: Aligning Work and Life in the U.S. House and Senate”

WHEN: 1:30 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012

WHERE: Michigan Room, Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, 540 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, Ill. 60611. The press briefing also is available by conference call. Contact SHRM Media Relations (703-535-6260) for information on how to connect.

DETAILS: The survey of more than 1,400 people who work in Congress shows that congressional staff members operate under demanding conditions yet report a high level of meaningfulness in their jobs. The research is being released at SHRM’s Workflex Conference, Oct. 23-24 in Chicago, which features strategies and tools to help employers create flexible workplaces that fit the needs of today’s workforce.

MEDIA: To attend the press briefing, connect to the briefing by phone or receive a copy of the research report, contact Kate Kennedy at and 703-535-6260, or Susie Gorden at and 202-546-0100.
